I wasn't fortunate enough to afford the pricey Leica M7, but one of my friends was kind to let me borrow his Konica Auto S2 film rangefinder. I am yet to develop my first roll to explore if this is what I've been really looking for. I am super excited about this opportunity to shoot film

Rangefinder
My attempt and inspiration to test a rangefinder comes after looking at the works of HCB (mentioned in my first post) and several others famous street photographers. A friend of mine suggested some posts on online photography magazines that talk about improving digital photography skills by using a rangefinder for a year as a teacher. One of them posted on Online Photographer, talks about using Leica film rangefinder using a prime lens for an entire year, and guarantees the learner to be a better photographer. Another post, talks about using any rangefinder (in his case Contax IIa film) and experiment to become a better street photographer.

First Post
My first post on this brand new blog about my interest in photography and products. I started off about a year a half ago with a Nikon D5000 from Costco, with absolutely no idea on how it was going to go and may well fall off as a potential interest. To my surprise, I realized that the interest on the other hand, just grew more and more and kept focusing on learning basics of photography from different online websites and books. Still a beginner with a great group of people around with ample advises this interest has evolved dramatically. A visit to Henri Cartier Bresson's (HCB see his portfolio at Magnum) exhibit at SF MOMA was probably my dive into this street photography business. I have a developed a passion for this over time by watching works of Robert Frank, Cappa and now Vivian Maier (an unsung hero) in street photography. I feel that to be able to capture a shot, the moment and tell a story is best done by street photographers.
